Employer Match - Double your impact!

Many corporations are willing to match their employee's charitable contributions to qualified not-for-profit organizations. As an example, if you give $50, your employer might be willing to give an additional $50, bringing your total impact to $100, allowing the Immigrant Welcome Center to do that much more for New Mainers and our community.

Please email  danielle@welcomeimmigrant.org if you or your employer have any questions.

Donor Advised Funds

A donor advised fund (DAF) is a charitable investment account that donors can use to support their giving. DAF donors can give cash, stocks, or publicly-traded assets and get an immediate tax deduction. DAF assets are invested for growth by the sponsoring organization (for example, Fidelity Charitable or Schwab Charitable) potentially making even more money available for charities. Donors can then recommend grants at any time from the DAF to any qualified 501(c)3 public charity, such as the GPIWC. Contact the administrator of your donor advised fund to recommend a gift to the Greater Portland Immigrant Welcome Center.

Stock and Mutual Fund Gifts

Giving a gift of appreciated securities can help the Greater Portland Immigrant Welcome Center continue its mission, support our programs and allows you to impact the lives of New Mainers for years to come. When donating Stock to the Immigrant Welcome Center, you may take a tax deduction for the “full fair market” value, avoiding capital gains tax, without paying more out of pocket. Please contact Danielle King at danielle@welcomeimmigrant.org or 207-517-3406 for more information or to receive instructions for making a stock gift.

IRA Gifts

If you are 70 1/2 or older, you can make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your IRA directly to the Greater Portland Immigrant Welcome Center.  You can help the Immigrant Welcome Center and potentially receive a tax benefit. A donation transferred directly from your IRA to a qualified charity is generally not considered taxable income on your federal income tax return. As always, we recommend that you contact your plan administrator or professional advisor to determine if this type of gift is right for you.

The Greater Portland Immigrant Welcome Center is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) public charity.

Our EIN number is 82-2844735. Your donation may be tax deductible; please check with your financial advisor.
