Alesis Thomas, Community integration director

Born in Southern Kentucky, Alesis was lucky enough to grow up in a multicultural neighborhood and have her interests shaped at an early age. She went on to study TESL, graduate with a Bachelor’s in Arabic language, and eventually move to a career path in refugee resettlement. She is now guided by three principles, which she integrates into all of her work: justice, truth, goodness.

Alesis’ favorite food is red beans and rice with water cornbread. Her favorite dessert is choco flan. When not working, she enjoys taking care of plants, playing classical guitar, fixing cars, and playing video games.

Alesis encourages anyone who comes by to teach her phrases in any language - she is always looking to learn new words!
